The Polish Power Exchange Management Board acting pursuant to § 100 section. 2 of the Regulations of Trading on the Exchange Commodity Market of Polish Power Exchange  has decided to reduce the amount of the additional fee , charged to  the applicant in case of cancelation of  the transaction, by reducing the maximum fee charged for the metioned purpose, from 16 April 2012 to 31 December 2012

According to the implemention the provisions of the Energy Law section 3 Management Art.9m the Management Board of the Polish Power Exchange decided to launch cogeneration periodic exchange of instruments PMEC - 2012, PMGM - 2012, PMMET - 2012. A total trading volume on all electricity dedicated markets of the Polish Power Exchange (POLPX) amounted to 3.173 TWh in January this year. This represents an increase of 41.17% YOY.

PGNiG Energia S.A. starting from 31st January 2012 has started trading electricity on the Day-Ahead and Intraday Market (the DAM&IDM)on the Commodity Derivatives Market (the CDM) and on the Property Rights Market (PRM) run by the Polish Power Exchange (called "the POLPX" thereinafter)

Total trading volume on all electricity dedicated markets of the Polish Power Exchange (POLPX) amounted to 126.679 TWh in 2011. This represents 78% of electricity produced in Poland and over 80% of its total consumption. The turnover increased by 55% in comparison with the previous year.

The increase in turnover was also recorded on the Property Rights Market of POLPX. The total turnover of all types of property rights in 2011 stood at the level of 50,606,981 MWh - which is over 3% increase as compared to 2010.

The total electricity trading volume on the Polish Power Exchange in August this year was 10.322 TWh, and was 12.90% higher compared to the previous month (9.142 TWh in July 2011). Compared to the same period last year, the electricity trading volume on Polish Power Exchange floor increased by 205.00%.

In May this year the electricity trading volume on the POLPX Day- Ahead Market amounted to 1.901 TWh reaching thereby the highest volume during over 10-year history of the POLPX.

In May this year total electricity trading volume on the Polish Power Exchange amounted to 11.921 TWh and it was decline in comparison with the preceding month by 11.49% (13.467 TWh in April 2011) and increase as many as by 728.57% taking year-to-year ratio in consideration.

On the day of May the 13th 2011 the electricity trading volume on the Day-Ahead Market (DAM) with delivery on the day of May the 14th 2011 amounted to 86 878,90 M Wh – what is the highest trading volume that has been recorded since the day of beginning of that Market, that means since July 2000.

In April this year total electricity trading volume on the Polish Power Exchange amounted to 13,748 TWh and it was higher in comparison with the preceding month by 25,46% (10,959 TWh  in March 2011). Significant share in such success fell on electricity trading on the POLPX Commodity Derivatives Market, which in April 2011 amounted to 11,973 TWh, what composes month-to-month increase by 28,63% as well as trading volume on the Day-Ahead Market, which increased by 7,54% (and as many as 313,24% year-to-year increase), reaching thereby the highest volume during over 10-year history of the POLPX.

The EAM market trading recommenced

In accordance with the Resolution of the Management  Board of POLPX, Fortum Power and Heat Polska Sp.z o.o. will begin trading on the DAM, IDM, PRM, CDM of POLPX starting from 9 March 2011, understood as the first day of trading.

On the day of 07.03.2011 two new CHP instruments - PMEC-2011 and PMGM-2011, representing the property rights under the certificates of origin for electricity generated in 2011 in CHP sources, were introduced into the Certificate of Origin Register.

January of 2011 has appeared to be the peak month in ten-year history of the Day-Ahead Market (DAM) on the Polish Power Exchange. Total electricity trading volume on the market has increased (month-to-month) by 19,85% and it has amounted to 1 465 217 MWh. In comparison with similar period of previous year the DAM market trading volume has increased by o 255,75%.

In reference to your suggestion we have changed the schedule of activities in the Certificate of Origin Register that comes into force starting from 21 February 2011.

Within the framework of 10-year strategy (approved in 2009) the POLPX converged on electricity as the basic product. The trading volume for electricity amounted in total to 81 757 763 MWh (over 20 times more than in 2009), what composed 53% of electricity generated in Poland.

In the third quarter of 2010 the POLPX's trading in electricity on the Day Ahead Market (DAM) amounted to 1,890 TWh, while on the Commodity Derivatives Market (CDM) - 8,622 TWh. So, the total electricity trading volume during the period mentioned above amounted to 10,512 TWh (year-to-year increase 1.408,31 %) - what composes circa 27% of total electricity production amount in Poland during the third quarter of 2010.

The number of traded contracts volume has amounted to 40 MW (contracted electiricity volume amounted to 151 800 MWh). Average volume-weighted price has amounted to 222.83 PLN/MWh, with minimum value of 222.66 PLN/MWh and maximum value of 223.00 PLN/MWh.

In conformity with earlier announcements the first electricity purchase auction took place on the Polish Power Exchange yesterday. The purchase auction concerned the purchase of electricity in the amount of 100 MW in BASE type delivery, that means the delivery of the equal electricity amounts at each hour of the day during the period since 1.01.2011 till 31.12.2011  (The Instrument BASE-A_Y-11).
The number of traded contracts volume has amounted to 60 MW (contracted electiricity volume amounted to 525 600 MWh). Average volume-weighted price has amounted to 193.36 PLN/MWh, with minimum value of 193.17 PLN/MWh and maximum value of 193.50 PLN/MWh.

Vattenfall Energy Trading has signed a market maker agreement with the Polish Power Exchange. The company shall be the first market maker after so called "exchange obligation" has come into force. The duty of a market maker is to maintain liquidity by placing sale and purchase orders for instruments noted on POLPX markets consistent with rules and regilations specified by the Exchange.

Due to amendments to the Energy Law which came into force on the 9th of August 2010 and changes in the act on excise, all brokerage houses can become members of the Polish Power Exchange and represent their customers on the Day-Ahead Market (DAM) and Commodity Derivatives Market (CDM). First members of DAM and CDM are brokerage houses BOŚ and NOBLE Securities.

The Board of Polish Power Exchange S.A. acting on the basis of § 100 par. 3 of Regulations for Transactions on Exchange Commodities Market of Polish Power Exchange S.A. ("Exchange Regulations "), decides to decrease exchange fees for Exchange Members fulfilling the role of market animators.

The POLPX informs hereby that on the day of 02.09.2010 the purchase auction No 3/RTT-A/2010 will be carried out; the auction subject will be peakload of electricity, that means electricity with equal power in each hour of the working day at hours between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. during the period from 01.01.2011 till 31.12.2011 (the instrument PEAK5-A_Y-11)* with power of 100 MW.

In conformity with earlier announcements the first electricity purchase auction took place on the Polish Power Exchange today. The purchase auction concerned purchase of electricity in amount of 100 MW in Year 2011 BASE contract.  (The Instrument BASE-A_Y-11). That was the first auction of such type, which from the very beginning enjoyed very high interest of the market participants and the press. 11 participants took part in the auction. Wolume of complex purchase orders exceeded supply, and was as high as 4 599 000 MWh.

The electricity trading volume on the Day-Ahead Market and on the Commodity Derivatives Market has amounted to 1 893 473 MWh. July, despite the holidays period, has turned out to be the best month as regards the volume, from the beginning of presence of the POLPX on the electricity market in Poland. 

During the first half of year of 2010 the electricity trading on the POLPX’s Day-Ahead Market amounted to 2,488 TWh, while on the Commodity Derivatives Market – 1,503 TWh. So the total trading volume during the period mentioned above amounted to 3,990 TWh, what results in year-to-year increase of 75,08%.

POLPX informs hereby that on the day of 5.08.2010 the sale auction No 1/RTT-A/2010 will be carried out;

On 6 July 2010 the Polish Power Exchange and the Ukrainian Power Exchange signed an agreement on cooperation of both Exchanges, covering inter alia on energy trading in Poland and Ukraine, as well as joint research and exchange of experience on the activities of the parties of the agreement.

Management Board statement regarding cancellation of transaction on POLPX

Ten years ago - on the day of June the 30th 2000 - the first session took place on the Day-Ahead Market (DAM). Total volume of the transactions, which had been entered into during that session amounted up to 483 MWh, with average price - for the whole day - remaining on the level of 88 zloty/MWh. During the first session that had been carried out on the DAM the trading value amounted to 42 504 zloty. Eight from among twenty registered exchange members participated in the first session on the DAM - five producers and three distributors of electricity.

Electricity exchanges Nord Pool Spot (NPS) and Polish Power Exchange (POLPX) has informed the Swe-Pol cable stakeholder group that the technical changes to their systems should be completed by the 15th November 2010.

The reason for introduction of amendments into the POLPX Rules and Regulations is the fact that the financial instrument trading act as well as some other acts have come into force as well as the clearings of exchange transactions have been turned over to the Warsaw Commodity Clearing House (IRGIT).

POLPX Management Board has taken decision about taking over of clearing of the transactions entered into on th POLPX by the Warsaw Commodity Clearing House (“IRGIT”), starting from the day of June the 7th 2010.

In respect of the IRGIT S.A. settlement of transactions concluded on the POLPX, Management Board decides to reduce the amount of transaction fees for trading services for exchange transactions concluded in the period from 7 June 2010 to 31 December 2010

On 29 April 2010, POLPX has signed an agreement with IRGiT covering assignment of financial servicing of exchange transactions.

The objective is to have all transactions concluded on the POLPX market cleared by IRGiT S.A.

Electrabel S.A. – one of the biggest energy trading company in Europe, from 6 May 2010 will begin trading on the Day-Ahead Market and Intraday Market.

Total volume amounted to 429,759 MWh. April 2010 proved to be the best month in volume for the Day – Ahead Market since the market was launched in June 2000. The total volume in April 2010 have shown a 5% increase compared to the volume from March 2010 and up 70% increase over the same period last year.

Today, the Warsaw Commodity Clearing House (IRGiT) has obtained from the Polish Financial Supervision Commission (KNF) the license to operate a clearing house and a settlement house.
