The total electricity trading volume on the Intra Day Market at the Polish Power Exchange in November this year amounted to 15.357 MWh - a month earlier it amounted to 1.424 MWh. The Intra Day Market on POLPX allows the POLPX Members to adjust the contract position the day before and during the day of electricity delivery (3 hours prior to its delivery).
Electricity trading in October 2011
The total electricity volume on POLPX in October this year amounted to 8.813 TWh ( 12,462 TWh in September 2011). In comparison to October 2010 the total trading electricity volume on POLPX floor increased by 2%.
In the past month once again a high share of all POLPX markets dedicated to electricity in the total hourly demand of the National Power System was recorded. On average it amounted to 71.72% (in September 2011) with a minimum of 58.87% and a maximum of 89.22%. This prooves the great importance of POLPX on the polish power market and strengthens POLPX's position in the internetional arena, which is particularly important in building a common European Energy Market by 2015.
Day-Ahead Market (DAM)
Electricity trading in the day-ahead delivery on the POLPX trading floor amounted to 1.463 TWh in October 2011(In September 2011 - 1.607 TWh). Trading volume increased by 44.66% taking year-to-year ratio in consideration
Average daily trading volume were at the level of 47,178 MWh, with a minimum value of 35,841 MWh and a maximum value of 76,166 MWh.
The monthly BASE price, counted as the by-volume-weighted average for all transactions, which had been concluded on the Day-Ahead Market, amounted to 211.70 PLN/MWh (month-to-month increase by 4 PLN). The monthly PEAK price, counted as the by-volume-weighted average for all transactions, which had been concluded on the Day-Ahead Market for hours between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m., amounted to 233.56 PLN/MWh (month-to-month increase by 14.80 PLN).
The DAM share in the total hourly electricity demand in the National Power System was 10.80% on average (12.95% in September 2011), with a minimum of 5.13% and a maximum of 23.02%.
The Commodity Derivatives Market (CDM)
In September 2011 the electricity trading volume on the Commodity Derivatives Market amounted to 7.335 TWh (10.854 TWh in September 2011).
Just as in September 2011, the most liquid contract was the annual contract with BASE electricity delivery profile in 2012. The total trading volume for the BASE_Y-12 contract amounted to 5,200,128 MWh (592 MW) - which composes 70.89% of the CDM total trading volume. From the beginning of trading this contract on the POLPX trading floor, the total trading volume was 56,735,856 MWh. In October 2011 the average price for the BASE_Y-12 contract was shaped at the level of 202.40 PLN/MWh (month-to-month dropp by 0.50 PLN).
